New Vehicle Repair Program at HAPCAP
For Qualifying Households
GLOUSTER – Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is ready to get residents on the road to success with a pilot Vehicle Repair Program. This program is designed to assist individuals who are enrolled in career training, employed or newly hired needing essential car repairs. Residents of Hocking, Athens, and Perry counties may be eligible for up to $2500 of vehicle repairs by an ASE certified mechanic.
The Vehicle Repair Program is funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and aims to remove transportation barriers for hardworking residents pursuing career advancement.
“Through my work at HAPCAP, I have seen first-hand what a barrier transportation can be to employment, especially in our rural communities,” said Amanda Sawvel, Community Services Coordinator. “I am thrilled to have this program because it will help alleviate the transportation barrier and hopefully relieve stress in people’s daily lives.”
Eligible households must meet the following requirements:
- Vehicle must be the primary source of transportation for employment, training, or active job seeking.
- Vehicle must be titled to a household member.
- Must provide valid proof of insurance for the vehicle.
- Household income must be below 300% of the Federal Poverty Guides
