Critical call for blood and platelets: Give with Red Cross now | September 9, 2024
Sept. 9, 2024 — In September, the American Red Cross stresses the continuing critical need for blood products to ensure patient care. Donors of all blood types are asked to give now to keep blood supply levels rising after a summer shortage. Type O blood donors and those giving platelets are especially needed.
SUMMER CRISIS PROGRAM TO END SEPTEMBER 30, 2024
GLOUSTER – The Ohio Department of Development and Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) will help income-eligible Ohioans stay cool during the hot summer months. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program provides eligible Ohioans assistance paying an electric bill or assistance paying for fans, air conditioning, or central air conditioning repairs. The program runs from July 1- September 30, 2024.

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—In honor of those killed in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, Governor DeWine has ordered the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio to be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Ohio from sunrise to sunset on September 11, 2024. Governor DeWine asks that all Ohioans observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m. to honor the innocent lives lost as a result of the terrorist attacks.

Aug. 5, 2024 — The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency blood shortage as the nation faces dangerous levels of heat and people head out for final summer travel plans.
